One point of my though here is you'll surprise while you see many of people work here came from South Asian countries - India, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, etc.
And more surprisingly they able to speak english neutrally (I didn't say well booklet but they are understandable) . When you by pass and asked for some address they were able to pointing you in a good directions. Other samples, they could run the business easily such grocery shop, restaurant, etc because of they could communicate with customers in English.
My examples are majority of people who work on lower line of business. You could find more people from them who stand position on the prestigious companies. Why they could but we are still cold sweating while speaking in English??? Most of us (Indonesian) will get formal English education from school and supplemented with some courses to make us perfect. But THEY DIDN'T!!!
The reason is COURAGEOUS. For you information, most of them are learning by doing. Many of came without any skills and learnt anything from scratch. They met with people (face to face), listened to people, until they could explain to people what they required to. They never went to English school neither courses or many of those. Compare with our people. We got english lecture from kid until today. Have open sources to receive many things to enhance our skill but why we still AFRAID TO SHOW OURS IN FRONT OF THE WORLD!! My message is never shy and confidence with yourself. Never imitate accent of native since we are as we are.
